The High Frequency Spark Generator is a dedicated laboratory ignition device designed for the safety testing of pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens according to IEC 60335-2-6:2018 Clause 22.111.
During the pyrolytic cleaning process, elevated temperatures can cause residues and contaminants inside the oven to decompose and potentially generate combustible gases. These gases may be discharged through ventilation openings and could present an ignition hazard if they encounter a suitable ignition source.
The SN1129 provides a controlled high-voltage electrical spark for evaluating this potential ignition hazard. With an adjustable spark length of approximately 3 mm, a spark energy of at least 0.5 J per spark, and an open-circuit peak voltage of approximately 7 kV, the equipment provides a defined ignition source for laboratory testing.
The compact single-station design and simple push-button operation make the SN1129 suitable for appliance manufacturers, product development laboratories, certification laboratories and third-party safety testing organizations.

IEC 60335-2-6:2018 Clause 22.111
The SN1129 is designed specifically for testing applications related to:
IEC 60335-2-6:2018 -- Household and similar electrical appliances -- Safety -- Part 2-6: Particular requirements for stationary cooking ranges, hobs, ovens and similar appliances
Relevant Clause: 22.111
The equipment provides the high-voltage spark ignition source required for the applicable pyrolytic oven flammable-gas ignition hazard evaluation.
Pyrolytic Self-Cleaning Oven Ignition Hazard Testing
The SN1129 is intended for testing pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens during the pyrolytic cleaning cycle. The test focuses on the potential hazard caused by flammable gases escaping from the oven through ventilation openings.
The high-voltage spark generator provides an intentional ignition source so that the laboratory can determine whether the released gas can be ignited under the specified test conditions.
High-Voltage Arc Ignition
The SN1129 operates by generating a high-voltage electrical arc between the spark electrodes. The generated spark provides a controlled ignition source in the specified test area.
During the applicable pyrolytic oven test, the spark is positioned at the designated location near the ventilation outlet or test area. If combustible gas is present at a concentration capable of ignition, the electrical spark may initiate ignition. The observed behavior is then assessed according to the applicable test procedure.
