IEC 60335-2-31 Figure 102 Range Hood Heating Performance Test Equipment for Temperature Rise
The Range Hood Heating Performance Test Equipment is a dedicated laboratory testing system developed for evaluating the heating performance and temperature rise behavior of range hoods, cooker hoods and other motor-operated cooking fume extraction appliances.
The system creates a controlled cooking-heating environment using a multi-burner heating platform and a simulated test corner. Temperature measurement points are distributed across the test panels to monitor the thermal conditions generated during operation.
The equipment is designed with reference to the heating test requirements of IEC 60335-2-31, including the test arrangement described in Chapter 11 and Figure 102.
It is particularly suitable for electrical appliance manufacturers, range hood manufacturers, safety testing laboratories, certification laboratories, R&D departments and third-party testing organizations.

Designed for IEC 60335-2-31 Heating Tests
The test system is developed around the heating test configuration specified in IEC 60335-2-31 and provides a dedicated test environment for range hood and cooking appliance safety evaluation.
The current IEC 60335-2-31:2024 edition is the sixth edition and includes updated requirements related to heating-test installation and accessible surface temperature limits.
Six-Burner Heating Configuration
The system incorporates six electric heating burners to reproduce the heat load generated by cooking appliances.
The heating configuration includes:
  • 3 × 2 kW rear burners
  • 3 × 1.5 kW front burners
  • Total heating capacity: approximately 10.5 kW
German EGO heating elements are used to provide stable heating performance and long-term laboratory operation.

Distributed Temperature Measurement
A dedicated test corner is equipped with temperature measurement points on the side and rear panels.
The measurement points are arranged in a 100 × 100 mm grid, allowing the laboratory to monitor temperature distribution during the heating test.
The configuration includes:
  • 54 measurement points on the side panel
  • 81 measurement points on the rear panel
  • Total: 135 temperature measurement points
This configuration provides a practical solution for temperature rise measurement and thermal performance evaluation.

K-Type Thermocouple Measurement
The equipment uses fine-diameter K-type thermocouple wires for temperature measurement.
The thermocouple wires have a diameter of less than 0.3 mm and are connected through terminal blocks for convenient laboratory wiring and measurement.
OMEGA K-type thermocouple wire is used in the standard configuration.

Integrated Test Corner
Instead of using separate fixtures to construct the testing environment, the system integrates the heating platform and test corner into one laboratory testing station.
This helps laboratories achieve:
