The Electric Strength Test Instrument is a dedicated test apparatus for evaluating the dielectric strength and insulation performance of solid insulating materials in accordance with IEC 62368-1:2023 Clause 5.4.9.1, Figure 29.
The instrument is designed to apply the specified mechanical contact conditions to an insulation sample during the test, helping laboratories verify whether the material can maintain adequate electrical insulation under the conditions defined by the applicable safety standard.
This IEC 62368-1 Figure 29 test apparatus is particularly suitable for electrical safety laboratories, product certification laboratories, R&D departments and manufacturers performing insulation material verification for electrical and electronic equipment.
The SN2201 is supplied with two configurations for different specimen requirements. The corresponding clamps and metal bars can be selected according to the applicable test arrangement, including Φ 5-100 and Φ6.4-50 configurations.

Solid insulation is an important part of electrical safety because it prevents unintended current paths between conductive parts. During product safety evaluation, the insulation material may need to withstand specified electrical and mechanical stresses without breakdown or loss of insulation performance.
The SN2201 is designed as a standard-specific IEC 62368-1 Figure 29 test fixture for this type of evaluation.
Typical applications include testing and verification of:
The apparatus can be integrated into an electrical safety laboratory's wider IEC 62368-1 compliance testing system, together with other dielectric strength, insulation resistance, accessibility and mechanical safety test equipment.
The test is based on establishing the specified contact condition between the test specimen and the corresponding test components.
Depending on the test arrangement, the appropriate clamp and metal bar are selected. The specimen is positioned in the fixture, after which the specified test configuration can be established for evaluation.
The SN2201 provides two metal bar options to accommodate the specified Figure 29 configurations:
This configuration enables laboratories to perform repeatable testing while maintaining the dimensional and loading requirements specified for the applicable test arrangement.
