IEC 60950-1 Ball Pressure Test Device For Testing Non-Metallic Insulating Material
Product Information For Ball Pressure Test Device:
The ball pressure test apparatus conforms to many standard requirements, such as IEC60884-1, IEC60335-1, IEC60950 and so on.
Application: external parts of non-metallic material, parts of insulating material supporting live parts including connections and parts of thermoplastic material providing supplementary insulation or reinforced insulation shall withstand this ball pressure test.
Technical Parameters For Ball Pressure Test Device:
Weights | 20N±0.2N |
Pressure ball diameter | Ф5mm (R2.5mm), conforms to ISO 3290 |
Pressure ball material | Hardening steel |
Other parts material | Stainless steel |
Support dimensions | Ф50 mm X100mm with an insertion hole for thermocouple |
Important Notice: if the relevant standard is not specified, then the ball pressure test is carried out according to IEC 60695-10-2. For different standard requirements, the test procedure should be carried out based on the relative standard and with reference of IEC 60695-10-2.
The following test procedure is based on IEC 60335-1 with reference of IEC 60695-10-2.
Specimens:
Specimens thickness should ≥2.5mm with approximately parallel upper and lower surface is obtained. Using two or more sections of the material under test is allowed.
Preconditioning:
Before starting the test, the material under test is conditioned for 24h in an environment having a temperature between 15°C and relative humidity between 45% and 75%.
Test Procedures For Ball Pressure Test Device:
A. Turn on the power supply of the oven (the oven is prepared by the operator).
B. Mount a separate thermocouple into the thermocouple hole, where is the centre of the test specimen support approximately 3mm below the surface, to check that the temperature of the test specimen support does not significantly deviate from the test temperature.
C. Set the required temperature on the controller of the oven. Conduct the test in air, within a tolerance of ±2°C. The heating oven, ball pressure test apparatus and test specimen support shall be maintained at the test temperature for 24 h or until thermal equilibrium is reached, whichever occurs sooner.
D. When thermal equilibrium conditions are reached, place the test specimen on the approximate centre of the test specimen support so that its upper surface is horizontal. Gently lower the pressure ball on to the approximate centre of the test specimen, ensure that no conditions exist that will cause the pressure ball to move other than in a downward direction during the test. The installation of the test specimen shall be performed in as short a time as practicable to ensure that there is no significant temperature drop of the heating oven and test specimen support. The ball pressure apparatus is pressed against this surface with a force of 20N
E. After the specimen has been heated at the required temperature for 60min+2min/0min, remove the pressure ball from the test specimen and within 10s immerse the test specimen in water maintained at 20°C±5°C. Following an immersion period of 6min±2min remove the test specimen from the water and eliminate all traces of water.
Notice For Ball Pressure Test Device:
1. After each test, the ball pressure test apparatus shall be cleaned using a clean dry cloth.
2. R2.5 steel ball is ball bearing steels, pay attention to rust protection.
3. The support surface is kept bright, clean and smooth.
4. Prevent foreign bodies blocked the Ф 2.5 thermocouple hole.
5. Prevent balancing weight screws loosen.
