One of the critical challenges is verifying that connectors can withstand short-time high current and maintain safe temperature rise levels under rated load conditions.   A leading EV charging equipment manufacturer approached us to find a comprehensive testing solution that could not only meet IEC 62196-1 requirements but also improve testing efficiency and reliability.     The customer needed to conduct temperature rise tests on EV plugs and sockets under continuous high-current operation. They also required short-time withstand current testing for grounding contacts up to 6500A, with precise monitoring of terminal heating. Traditional testing setups were time-consuming, lacked automated data analysis, and could not guarantee repeatable accuracy.     We provided the IEC 62196-1 Short-time Test Current and Temperature Rising Test System, fully compliant with: IEC 62196-1 Ed.4CDV 2020 (Clauses 12.3, 24, 34.2, 34.4, 35.4) IEC 62916-2 & IEC 62916-3   The system delivered adjustable DC current up to 6500A with high stability, allowing precise short-time current tests. 16-channel temperature measurement ensured accurate monitoring of contact and surface heating. The computer-controlled interface allowed automated test sequences, real-time data visualization, and report generation in CSV/XLSX formats. With automatic ambient compensation and overload protection, the system minimized risk and improved operator safety.   The Results The customer successfully completed temperature rise compliance testing on multiple charging connector designs. They reduced test preparation and reporting time by over 40% thanks to automated data collection and analysis. The system enabled them to identify critical design flaws in terminals at early stages, avoiding costly redesigns later.
